Movie Review – Gone Girl***1/2

Gone-Girl-Poster

Everyone is talking about Interstellar but I was quite fascinated with the outline of this movie to I thought of choosing to watch this film first. To my pleasant surprise I found this movie fascinating in many terms. The story for one is different from usual at least the treatment is. The movie is a bit slow especially the first one hour. A shorter runtime would have resulted in faster pace and grip. The end was also a bit disappointing and abrupt as if the producer ran out of finances otherwise it would have been a three-hour movie.

I am highly impressed with Rosamund Pike. There were instances where I had a feeling that the movie does not even star Ben Affleck. She was so good in portraying Amazing Amy, she was smart, sexy and smooth. The ex Bond girl has really come of age. Ben Affleck looked less convincing or his character had low energy but the fact of the matter is that he was a bit invisible. Then there were some parts which were ridiculous especially when the whole city is up looking for Amy and the news channels have nothing more to report.

The movie is certainly watchable purely on the basis of content. Criticism aside you need an able team to pull a movie like this and David Fincher & Gillian Flynn are the people you need.
