Sophie has a supernatural power which is challenging the best magicians, their logical and scientific reasoning. Stanley the world famous magician is hired by his friend and fellow magician to take a closer look at the magic spells of Sophie. Engrossed in decoding Sophie’s magic Stanley did not even realize he is falling in love with Sophie but then again there is more to her magic.
Woody Allen is a master craftsmen who can be loved, hated but never ignored. He make good movies and then he make movies. His style is second to none. His recent work like Blue Jasmine, Midnight in Paris, Vicky Cristina Barcelona have been a treat to watch. Magic in moonlight might not qualify as one of his best but it is worth a watch. Every time I see Colin Firth he seems to grow on me as an actor who is unconventional but never out of place. He is equally good in comedy, romance, drama and even mysteries. Emma Stone is looking good with every outing, she enjoys experimenting which is good.
The movie has a feel good factor but it is not very fast paced. You can feel the witty touches of Woody Allen throughout the film. The highlight of the movie is Colin Firth who’s inner self if fighting a battle between being a rational person who believes in science and believing in the existence of God (the magic you see).
