This is my second review where I have combined two movies. This time it is the 2006 Edward Norton starrer The Illusionist and The Prestige which features Christian Bale & Huge Jackman in the lead. Though both the movies are based on magician and magic both are quite different from each other. Where Prestige deals with rivalry between two magicians Illusionist deals with a magician and his love of life.

Both are period films and have a retro look to them. from the acting point of view both Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale have done a fantastic job but from story point of view Illusionist came out better. Both the movies have dark shades and has a spooky feel to it. Where Christopher Nolen plays with lights and camera angles Nel Burger brushes the canvas with filters to distinguish between two-time periods. Editing is solid and so are the leading ladies Jessica Biel & Scarlett Johanson.

If you are a fan of movies with magic and magicians you will love these two offerings. Both are thrilling and worth every minute spent. I personally loved watching both as both have their strengths which are unique to them but from the watchablity point of view and my preference of a strong storyline I kind of favoured Illusionist but this is just me.

*Poor, ** Below Average, ***Average, ****Good, ****Very Good
