Movie Review – Dum Laga Ke Haisha ***

Two commonly found individuals marry to form an uncommon couple. The story of their common relationship is the backdrop of this uncommon movie.

Marriages are the second name of compromises and when the odds are against it only God can save the relationship. God in this movie took form of an interesting race where you have to run carrying your better half or I may say your heavy half. The story is simple but it is also painfully ticklish at the same time. Two people trying to make sense of their relationship and at  the same breath trying to come to terms with their weaknesses as an individual.

The performance of all the actors are realistic. I Especially liked Sanjay Mishra apart from Ayushmann Khurana & Bhumi Padnekar. The movie has the right dose of humor and it also make you think in a certain way. There are areas where I felt it could have been far better like the relationship between the lead actors suddenly changed its tone from being repulsive to attraction. The movie to me also did not do too much to connect at least I did not fully connect with the subject.

Look around you and you will find many Prem & Sandhya’s around you. Life is not bed of roses and marriages like these do not make it easy. It is a good one time watch though.
