Movie Review: Notes on a Scandal ***1/2

This is a story about a veteran history teacher, her life and relationship with a much younger women with a fractured family and an affair with a 15 year old student.

Human relations are complecated and more so when it involves a loner desperately trying to clinch to anything remotly close to them. They will go to any length to ensure that that person they like belong to the even if it means distroying the other. Judi Dench plays this twisted old loner Barbara Covett exceptionally well. Judi is just superb as Barbara grows on you scene by scene though her emotional display and her thoughts.

Another top of the line choice is  to cast the very versatle Cate Blanchett against the talent of Judi Dench. The strength of this movie is the chemistry and complexcities between the two characters played by them. Though the story keeps you hooked till the last and deserves the acolades, it is no surprise that the real winner here is the cast which justifies Acadamy Award nominations for both Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett.

*Poor ** Below Average ***Average ****Good *****Very Good
