Movie Review: McFarland, USA ***

A true story about a coach struggling to find a stable ground for himself comes to McFarland a country side area in USA. He trains a bunch of local students having raw talent to crave out a cross country winning team.

Sport films are motivating and have a feel good factor. Disney has been busy unearthing some of them in the recent past like Million Dollar Arm and is doing a great job. This film also tries to go the same direction with its content. It has a low key feel with Kevin Costner and Maria Bello being from main stream films. The movie does not have the high gloss of some of the high profile movies based on sports stories but manages to keep you glued.

As all sports movies there is lot of predictablity in the plot but the overall treatment of the film and its low key real life affair makes it a decent watch on your weekends.
