27th July 2015, was a sad day for India as it lost one of its Ratna (precious/asset). Yesterday I saw an India seldom seen and mostly overlooked in our day-to-day lives. The whole nation was mourning for a man who in lot of ways defined a new India. Who was this man? Was he a Muslim?, a Hindu?, a Christian?, a Sikh?, a Buddhist? Or follower of any other religion you the think of? The answer is a resounding NO. Did he belonged to any caste Siya, Sunni, Brahmin, Kshatriya, Kayastha, Sudra, Catholic, Pedestrian etc.? Well I don’t know and I am sure no one cares. Let’s segregate the society even further as we are so used to nowadays and see if we get his roots, General, ST, SC, OBC, again no one was even interested.
So who is this person we were all mourning for? Well he was the President of this truly great country. He was a scientist of the highest calibre. He was a teacher and a student. He believed in dreams and fulfilling them by hard work and sincerity. He believed in equality for all through education and spreading knowledge. He believed in living life in all its glory. A great soul and above all a great Indian called Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen “A. P. J.” Abdul Kalam. Dr. Kalam was a true embodiment of what this nation stands for.
Let us all cherish and learn from the life this great Indian lived and the values he lived for as he stood by it till his last breath.
