It’s a story of Einar and Gerda Wegener’s life changing journey, which even in today’s day is still painfully incomplete. It is a journey of changing relationships, love, experience and gender. It all started when Gerda painted her husband as a women. Slowly her paintings gained popularity, she started loosing her husband to Lili Elbe.
From the moment I saw the trailer I was waiting for this movie and good to see films like this releasing in India. It was a treat to watch the film for many reasons primary being the acting exploits by the lead actors Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander. What a wonderful actor Redmayne has shaped into, he slips in and out of the two characters with such ease. Vikander on the other side deserves all the accolade she is receiving for her effort. I am sure will will be witnessing many more such treats from her in the future.
As far a director Tom Hooper is concerned any amount to praise will be insufficient. The King Speech Oscar winning director weaved frame by frame with class and style. From sets decoration to costumes to make-up to cinematography everything was from the top drawer. It is a must watch for off beat/ biographical cinama lovers.
