Movie Review – Akira ***

Bollywood is changing and it is quite evident with what A R Murugadoss has tried to do with his film Akira. Akira in Hindi means graceful strength and it is precisely what you get with Sonakshi Sinha as the lead which in turn means there is no male lead here. The actions sequences are well crafted in this thriller where a girl get entangled in a police mess gone wrong. Having said that the story and plot fizzles out in the later half which makes the overall package bit boring.

Sonakshi Sinha is good with her less talk more action avatar works. What make the film interesting is Anurag Kashyap as the bad cop who impressed the most. I have long believed that a hero is as good as the villain and this is a great example. He should seriously consider more such outings in front of the camera. Konkona Sen Sharma on the other hand suffers from a poorly written character and lack of screen time.

I am happy that finally Bollywood is doing something different and though not perfect you have a decent entertainer here.
