Though it is in the formula movie territory BNKD does work in many ways. Everyone knows the story. It is a classic Bollywood romcom. There is nothing new in it and so we can call it is time pass but in a good way. What works here are the lead characters played by Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Both are comfortable as they have done similar stuff earlier and it is well within their comfort level in terms of acting skills required. The rustic background of B town boy and girl also add to the overall feel and the movie does not change the track too much.
Then there is the music. Some of the scores are very good and you also have a throw back to the 90’s. The thing that stops the movie from being a good time pass to a great time pass is that the second half is bit flat. There is not much happening apart from Badrinath trying to come to terms with the reality check given by Vaidehi and his struggle with himself. The climax is also too easy to digest. Families tend to take the smallest of issues during marriages to a point where it becomes ego matter and finally hurts relationships.
As I said it is a good time pass nothing more or great
