Phillauri can be best described as opportunity missed. After watching the trailers the expectations were high only to find out that that is what you get. There is not much more than what you have already seen in the trailers. The first half is the extended trailer and  it is ok but when the actual story unfolds in the second half, it is a drag. Don’t get e wrong as there is not happening in the second half, it’s just boring. The pacing is just wrong and the story takes a turn which was not required.

Anushka Sharma as usual is excellent and completely watchable. But the supporting characters are either not well written or are not performed to their fullest. Both Diljit Dosanjh and Suraj Sharma are quite restricted in their range. I am not too sure wither it was the directors requirement as both are quite capable actors. What works far the movie is its music which is full of folk and Sufi flavor.

The story had lot of potential but the film tried to do too much and that’s what lets it down. It is certainly a one time watch but better to wait for its TV/streaming release.
